25 years of Tareno
The first steps
1. Foundation: Tareno was founded on March 6, 2000 by five Swiss financial experts who dared to take the step into self-employment.
2. Tareno name: Tareno is made up of the initials of the founding partners and is based on Reno (Rhine). A good fit, as our head office is in Basel on the Rhine.
3. Important leap in growth: Our subsidiary in Luxembourg was founded back in 2005. We have also been represented in Zurich since 2010.

9. Award-winning asset management: 6 awards from BILANZ for best asset management.
10. Water fund: With our thematic fund, we are one of the pioneers in Switzerland for investments in the water sector. We were the first with an FNG seal and were recently awarded the Euro FundAward as the best water fund.
11. Our slogan: Consistently innovative – consistent because our philosophy remains the same, innovative because we are constantly developing in order to remain successful for our clients in the future.
Tareno Facts
12. Most exciting experience: Major police operation due to a silent false alarm. Roads were closed, the building was checked for 3 hours. A huge excitement and shock at the same time.
13. Team tradition: mixing smoothies (a little anecdote: sometimes up to the kitchen ceiling…), having lunch together on Wednesdays and several staff events a year.
14. In-house photographer: Our nature photos in public documents are mostly taken by our long-time employee Marijke Vosmeer.
15. Tareno sport: running laps, swimming in the Rhine, padel tennis, lunchtime workouts and much more.
16. Music to the ears: We can still hear Ueli whistling or singing in the Tareno corridor.
17. Advent fever: Stefan Schütz brings a very special Christmas spirit to the office every year with his cutting christmas tree.

18. Number of customers: We currently serve over 500 customers worldwide. Last year alone, we acquired 50 new clients.
19. Assets under management: We now manage CHF 3.3 billion in client assets.
20. Our most sustainable project: Impact share class of the Tareno Water Fund, which finances drinking water projects.
21. Succession is in place: With Sybille Wyss as a partner and a young management team, we are well equipped for the coming years.
Biggest challenge
22. Our biggest stock market challenge was coping with unexpected market changes such as the following:
- EUR/CHF minimum exchange rate: sudden currency appreciation with a strong impact on exports and markets.
- Brexit decision: The UK’s surprising decision to leave the EU caused uncertainty on the financial markets and weighed on European equities, including Swiss companies.
- Corona outbreak: Extreme volatility and uncertainty required quick action to seize opportunities.
- Rising interest rates in 2022: Market dynamics changed abruptly, new strategies became necessary.

23. Strengthen Zurich location: Expansion with experienced client advisors for even greater proximity to our clients.
