Clean drinking water for the Sunrise Education Center in Tanzania

The drinking water project at the Sunrise Education Center ensures sustainable access to clean water for over 1,500 pupils and students in Tanzania. It is already the third successful project of our impact share class that we have been able to realize together with our project partner waterkiosk.

Drinking water for three schools – impact investing with a lasting effect

The Sunrise Education Centre in Songwe, Tanzania, comprises three independent educational institutions and previously had five SoWaDis systems from waterkiosk. Due to the high water hardness and the increasingly inadequate water supply from the Msembizi River, the school has constructed a new borehole that supplies around 4000 litres of water per hour. A SuMeWa system was installed to utilise this new water source. It supplies the kitchens and water points with clean drinking water, ensuring sustainable access to water for over 1,500 people.

Project partners

The project was realised together with our long-standing partner waterkiosk and made possible by donations from the impact share class of the Tareno Water Fund. It not only improves the water quality on site, but also ensures the long-term drinking water supply for the entire Sunrise Education Centre. Further information and pictures can be found in the project description.
